How it works
Mind Tools Consulting was created to provide a service to schools that are in the process of considering ramping up the level of integration of techology in their classrooms. This may involve deciding if a one-to-one program is the right step for the school or it may be an assessment of the school's currect involvement and investment in technology.
Consulting is done on site at your school and as much as possible involves faculty, administration and parents/school boards and is usually a two or three day process, depending on the size and complexity of the school.
Several weeks prior to the consulting visit, the school is asked to work with the consultant to schedule interview times, class visitations and to discuss specific objectives. Approximately ten days after the school visit, a detailed, written report will be sent to the administrators most directly involved with the consult. This report will provide the administration with an overall assessment of the school's present position regarding technology and list detailed recommendations from the consultant.
Types of Services
Many schools cannot see beyond the cost of their technology program and shortcircuit their planning or abandon the effort at financing a competitive program altogether. Schools should be spending three to five percent of their annual budget on technology. Some schools spend considerably more - the trick is how you spend, rather than how much. Schools that got into the technology picture early on may now find themselves in a kind of rut. They have a one-to-one program with computers all over the place but not much seems to have changed.
